    Anthropic, the developer of the AI model Claude, announced on Tuesday the launch of Claude for Nonprofits, a program aimed at supporting charitable organizations worldwide in enhancing their effectiveness amid tight budgets. The initiative comes in collaboration with GivingTuesday, a global movement promoting generosity, and seeks to integrate artificial intelligence into the daily operations of nonprofits tackling complex social issues.

    Several nonprofits have already integrated Claude to advance their missions. For instance, the Epilepsy Foundation deployed an AI assistant powered by Claude to offer round-the-clock assistance to 3.4 million people in the United States affected by epilepsy. The International Rescue Committee employs the technology to streamline interactions with on-the-ground partners and process field information more rapidly during urgent relief efforts. IDinsight, which aids development leaders globally, has seen productivity gains of up to 16 times in its research tasks thanks to Claude. Organizations like SkillUp and Robin Hood leverage it for programming and routine administrative duties, cutting down on the need for extra personnel.

    Insights from these partners highlight that AI proves most valuable when seamlessly incorporated into current processes, while respecting data privacy standards and remaining value for money. The new program addresses these priorities with three core offerings: reduced pricing of up to 75 percent on Claude’s Team and Enterprise subscriptions, integrations with key nonprofit software platforms, and a complimentary training program.

    Under the discounted plans, smaller teams can access collaborative features for shared projects and knowledge bases, while larger entities gain enhanced security and management tools. The pricing includes models such as Claude Sonnet 4.5 for in-depth activities like crafting grant applications and evaluating programs, and Claude Haiku 4.5 for quick, high-performance results. Access to the advanced Claude Opus 4.5 is available upon request for Enterprise users.

    To facilitate adoption, Anthropic introduced open-source connectors linking Claude to popular tools already in use by nonprofits, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Asana, Slack, and Box. New additions include Benevity for searching over 2.4 million verified nonprofits to facilitate volunteering and donations; Blackbaud for managing donors, tracking campaigns, and optimizing fundraising; and Candid for accessing details on organizations, grants, and funding prospects.

    The company is also teaming up with consulting firms such as the Bridgespan Group, Idealist Consulting, Vera Solutions, and Slalom to provide customized guidance on AI strategies, measuring outcomes, and full-scale implementation for nonprofits transitioning to these technologies.

    Complementing these tools is a free online course titled AI Fluency for Nonprofits, developed alongside GivingTuesday and hosted on the Anthropic Academy. Aimed at beginners without technical expertise, the curriculum covers practical applications in areas like grant writing, assessing programs, engaging donors, and boosting operational efficiency. Additional resources include guides on workflows such as impact reporting.

    Anthropic has piloted the technology with more than 60 grantees through partnerships with the Constellation Fund, Robin Hood, and Tipping Point Community, focusing on areas like aligning grant proposals with funder priorities, evaluating program effects, managing donor relationships at scale, and preparing board documents and compliance files.

    Nonprofit leaders shared positive experiences with Claude. One organization noted it built a geospatial tool for dengue prevention in Guatemala in three days instead of weeks, targeting aid more precisely amid declining health budgets. Another highlighted creating a multilingual AI companion for epilepsy patients, fulfilling a commitment to constant support. A third reported enabling 4 times faster rollout of systems to link families to billions in unclaimed benefits. Efficiency improvements were common themes, from accelerating surveys and dashboards to streamlining data analysis and coding for resource-strapped teams.
