Google Unveils AI Upgrades for Gemini and Classroom to Transform Education

Google has unveiled enhancements to its Gemini artificial intelligence platform and Google Classroom during the British Educational Training and Technology conference, known as Bett 2026, aiming to streamline teaching processes and empower students with advanced learning resources.

The updates, detailed in an official launch guide, focus on integrating AI more deeply into educational routines to boost efficiency for teachers while providing accessible tools for learners to reach their goals.

A key feature allows students to access free, full-length practice tests for the SAT directly within Gemini. These on-demand exams draw from verified materials developed by prominent educational providers, such as The Princeton Review, ensuring reliable preparation options.

Gemini will soon integrate with the Google Classroom application, enabling it to draw on class-specific data to assist with tasks like creating lesson plans or compiling reports on student achievements. Early testers from a pilot initiative have shared practical examples of these capabilities.

For educators, Gemini for Education now offers broader no-cost access to the advanced Gemini 3 Pro model, complemented by Gemini 3 Flash and the innovative Nano Banana Pro, which enhances data visualization through AI-driven reasoning and contextual understanding.

Teachers can also generate visually compelling infographics and presentation slides using Gemini and NotebookLM to summarize topics or clarify complex ideas, saving preparation time and enriching classroom experiences.

Another addition lets users incorporate NotebookLM as a foundational source in Gemini, using its strengths to produce tailored documents, apps, images, and videos while staying anchored to dependable educational content.

Integration extends to the Moodle learning management system via the upcoming Gemini LTI tool, which will embed Gemini’s applications and NotebookLM features seamlessly, facilitating customized lesson development and individualized student support.
