Midjourney releases enhanced alpha platform following user feedback and ongoing improvements

Midjourney has launched a new version of its alpha platform for users to explore, following an initial rough draft made available two weeks ago. Since the launch, a significant number of users have provided valuable feedback, both favorable and critical, helping the development team make rapid improvements. The platform is being refined based on user input, and updates are continuously being implemented. Users can keep track of ongoing changes through the #alpha-news channel for real-time updates.

The latest updates focus on enhancing organization features and user experience. Users can now group their projects in a new collapsible sidebar, allowing for easier navigation and organization of folders. There has been a significant overhaul of the sidebar, which now showcases a streamlined folders tree, a button for creating new projects, and enhanced style options, all while maintaining accessibility on larger screens. Other improvements include the restoration of saved searches and fixes to prevent crashes during project creation.

Functionality for Upscale, Zoom, and Vary tools has also been reinstated, with the Vary feature now honoring user settings instead of defaulting to high definition without notification. Additionally, the platform has made it easier for users to manage their settings, ensuring they do not reset unexpectedly and that personalizations apply correctly only when enabled.

Performance issues have been addressed, with noticeable improvements in lag across various site functionalities, including prompt input and settings sliders. The editor experience has been refined as well, with adjustments to menu placements and better handling of prompts, ensuring smoother interactions for users.

In terms of the prompt bar, several enhancements have been made, including a more intuitive context menu and improved handling of prompt submissions. The gallery and lightbox have also seen updates, with redesigned filters and better sidebar functionality for a seamless user experience. Users can once again download images with the correct filenames, and error messages for blocked images have been made clearer.

The Explore section has been optimized to allow better ratings beyond the first grid and now displays images generated with the latest version. Additionally, moodboard features have been improved, enabling easier copying and usability within prompts.

As this rapid series of fixes may have introduced new bugs, users are encouraged to continue sharing their feedback in the #alpha-ideas-and-bugs channel. Midjourney expresses gratitude to its community for their ongoing support and involvement in refining the alpha platform.
