A new feature in Claude Code is set to revolutionize how developers manage multiple projects by streamlining collaboration and automating task management. Users can now describe project objectives and rely on Claude to handle the intricacies of project execution. The system assesses requests, allocates tasks, oversees concurrent operations, reviews results, and synthesizes final outputs.
For instance, developers can set a goal to enhance their application’s checkout latency and instruct Claude to analyze each endpoint, implement optimizations, and simultaneously generate pull requests. Similarly, by linking various repositories for mobile and web applications, users can direct Claude to phase out a deprecated API endpoint, facilitating the migration process and testing.
Beginning today, this upgraded project management tool is available in beta to select subscribers of Claude Pro and Max who use cloud sessions and currently do not have any projects active on web or desktop platforms. In the coming days, access will broaden to more users on these subscription plans, with all Claude, Team, and Enterprise users set to receive the feature later.
For those on Pro or Max plans who have yet to gain access, a waitlist is available at this link.
Current projects will continue to function as they do now while awaiting updates as the rollout progresses.
Within this enhanced framework, projects are organized into threads that execute tasks, with Claude acting as the project coordinator. When initiating a project, users can choose specific goals and contexts, with Claude promptly suggesting actionable tasks. The cloud environment, plugins, and other configurations can also be adjusted to fit the project’s needs.
Users can track and manage progress through a main project chat or by delving into individual threads for more detailed oversight. Claude autonomously creates pull requests and conducts testing as needed, ensuring continuous project momentum.
Underpinning this system is Claude’s capacity to maintain organized workflows, with threat resolution handled similarly to standard merge conflicts. Each thread can break down larger tasks further by using subagents and workflows, optimizing efficiency in project completion.
Designed for extended workflows that require multiple exchanges, Claude’s memory capabilities allow it to adapt by recalling essential project details over time. This includes tracking decisions, timelines, and key contacts, which significantly reduces the need for detailed prompt interventions.
The new project feature also hosts a library that catalogues added files and generated materials, simplifying access to pertinent resources and enabling seamless continuity in future tasks.
With simultaneous threads functioning as independent Claude Code sessions, users can monitor specific project usage. A soon-to-come enhancement will allow these threads to operate on local machines, integrating with users’ tools and systems. To explore this new project management approach, visit projects.
