Meta’s Muse AI App Surpasses ChatGPT in Early Downloads and User Engagement

Meta's Muse AI App Surpasses ChatGPT in Early Downloads and User Engagement

Meta’s recent launch of its AI application, Muse, may position the tech giant for a significant success in the competitive market, according to data from market research firm Apptopia. Early estimates reveal that Muse has outperformed ChatGPT in download numbers during its first 12 days, marking a notable milestone for the app. In the U.S. and Canada, Muse achieved 1.8 million downloads, surpassing ChatGPT’s 1.3 million during the same period.

Muse also showcases greater daily user engagement compared to ChatGPT at launch, with Apptopia reporting that the AI app is currently seeing 642,000 daily active users in the U.S., while ChatGPT had only 231,000. The analysis focused on the iOS platform for an accurate comparison, and even under those parameters, Muse’s daily active users totaled 359,000, exceeding ChatGPT’s figures from its early days.

With a total of 2.8 million downloads globally within its first 12 days, Muse has quickly climbed the ranks on the U.S. App Store. It started as the second most popular app but has now reached the top position, overtaking ChatGPT. This development was reported by sources such as Appfigures and Business Insider, highlighting the app’s swift ascent.

Despite the lack of direct access to Meta’s internal metrics, Apptopia’s estimates indicate that Muse could emerge as a leading app for the company. Meta’s past experience with app launches, including its cross-promotion strategy for Instagram’s Threads—which has grown to over 500 million users—suggests that Muse will likely benefit from similar marketing tactics. The app’s functionality across Meta platforms, including Instagram and WhatsApp, may also contribute to its popularity.

Additionally, Apptopia noted that over 95% of Muse’s users are also registered on Facebook, while 63% use Instagram, underscoring the potential of Meta’s existing user base to support Muse’s growth. As of now, Meta has not disclosed any official data regarding the app’s early performance.

In summary, Muse’s initial success could signal a promising future for Meta as it continues to carve out a niche in the AI landscape, showcasing the importance of strategic launches and integrations within its extensive ecosystem.
