In a move to streamline content sharing, Facebook has announced the rollout of a new feature designed to help users choose standout photos and videos from their device. This latest addition utilizes artificial intelligence and cloud processing to identify images that are deemed most shareable from users’ galleries.
The feature not only highlights top visuals but also provides editing suggestions to improve these selections or combine them into collages. These recommendations are presented within the Stories, Feed, and Memories sections of the platform, allowing users to review them privately before deciding to share.
To activate this feature, users are prompted to navigate to Menu, then Settings and privacy, followed by Settings, and finally Camera roll sharing suggestions. Here, they can opt in by selecting the setting that allows cloud processing for creative ideas.
This innovation seeks to automate the often time-consuming process of sifting through media files, enabling users to save time while also unlocking new creative possibilities. Once enabled, Meta AI continuously analyzes the user’s media, identifying which images or videos would likely perform best or can be grouped into a cohesive collage.
Crucially, this feature is entirely opt-in, with Meta ensuring that no access to users’ media occurs unless specifically allowed. Additionally, the platform has assured users that their photos and videos will not be used to train AI systems unless they actively engage with editing tools.
The new post suggestion feature is initially available to users in the United States and Canada, with plans for testing in other regions in the near future. There are also indications that a similar option may be introduced for Instagram, another Meta-owned platform that focuses heavily on photo and video sharing.
