Apple Music is set to join the growing list of apps integrating with ChatGPT, bringing AI-powered features directly into the music streaming service. OpenAI’s push to embed its chatbot into everyday tools continues with this partnership, allowing users to leverage conversational AI for personalized listening experiences.
In a recent Substack update, Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s head of applications, revealed that Apple Music will soon be part of the ChatGPT ecosystem. This follows integrations with services like Spotify, Booking.com, Canva, Coursera, Figma, Expedia, and Zillow, all enabled through OpenAI’s partnership program.
Alongside the announcement, OpenAI shared a preview of its new Apps software development kit, designed to help developers weave their applications into ChatGPT more seamlessly. Simo highlighted additional upcoming additions to the platform, including Adobe, Airtable, Clay, Lovable, OpenTable, Replit, and Salesforce. She noted that other developers can now submit their apps for consideration in a dedicated directory.
“We recognize that we cannot develop every feature in-house,” Simo wrote. “ChatGPT becomes far more valuable when it links to the tools people already rely on, pulling up the perfect option just when it is needed.”
Reports from 9to5Mac suggest the Apps SDK is on the verge of leaving preview status, paving the way for broader adoption.
The Apple Music tie-in is expected to mirror the functionality seen in prior integrations, particularly the one with Spotify. Users will be able to prompt ChatGPT for custom playlists or music recommendations, with the results appearing directly within the Apple Music app. This setup streamlines tasks like curating themed mixes without leaving the chatbot interface, enhancing convenience for subscribers who want tailored content on demand.
