SpAItial’s Echo-3 turns iPhone videos into explorable 3D spaces

SpAItial has introduced Echo-3, a world-modeling system that turns short iPhone recordings into detailed, explorable 3D recreations of real spaces. The company also launched a companion app for capturing environments without extra cameras, tripods or lengthy scans.

Echo-3 builds on SpAItial’s earlier Echo-2 system, which generated 3D scenes from a single photo or panorama. The new model uses more extensive phone footage to reproduce places with greater detail, the company said.

Because quick recordings may miss surfaces or show them only briefly, Echo-3 uses the captured surroundings to fill in unseen areas. SpAItial says the resulting scenes preserve visual detail while producing accurate geometry at real-world scale, allowing measurements and distances to correspond to the actual space.

The system is designed for a range of settings, including homes, classrooms, factories, equipment and outdoor areas, as well as spaces spanning multiple floors.

In a comparison with Polycam, KIRI Engine and Niantic Scaniverse, SpAItial said Echo-3 produced sharp surfaces without visible “floaters,” or stray fragments that appear suspended in a 3D scene. The company said the apps were used to capture the same location along similar routes.

SpAItial plans to offer Echo-3 through an API for enterprise customers. Potential uses include real estate visualization, simulation inputs and tools that help artificial intelligence agents interpret or edit scenes.

The SpAItial app is available for iPhone, with Android support planned for a later date. The company is offering new subscribers their first month free. More information is available on the App Store.
