Adobe has introduced specialized tools for ChatGPT that enable users to handle design and editing tasks seamlessly within the AI platform. These new integrations for Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express became available on Tuesday, allowing people to upload files and describe desired modifications in plain language, with the applications executing the changes or recommending appropriate features.
The features are accessible at no extra cost and can be invoked simply by mentioning the app name along with a file upload and a directive, for instance, instructing Photoshop to soften the focus in the rear of a photo. Once activated in a session, subsequent requests do not require repeating the app designation. In response to prompts, the tools might present multiple options for selection or intuitive controls, such as sliders in Photoshop for fine-tuning light levels or sharpness.
While these ChatGPT versions do not replicate the complete scope of Adobe’s full-scale programs, they deliver targeted capabilities. For Photoshop, users can target particular areas of photos, add artistic filters, and tweak elements like illumination, tonal balance, and light sensitivity. The Acrobat integration supports revising PDF documents, reducing their size, transforming various file types into PDFs, pulling out written content or data charts, and combining several documents into one.
Adobe Express empowers ChatGPT participants to produce and refine visual projects, including event flyers, greeting cards, and online post visuals. All aspects of these creations, from swapping wording or visuals to modifying hues and adding motion to elements, can be adjusted right inside the chat interface. For those seeking deeper customization on items begun in ChatGPT, the resulting images, documents, and layouts transfer efficiently to Adobe’s standalone programs for continued work.
The integrations roll out worldwide on computers, browsers, and Apple mobile devices. Adobe Express extends to Android phones immediately, while support for Photoshop and Acrobat on that platform is slated for a forthcoming update.
This development builds on OpenAI’s October rollout of third-party app connections for ChatGPT, which included an option from Canva, a competitor to Express. OpenAI briefly experimented with highlighting these features in conversations but paused the practice last week amid user feedback likening it to advertising.
Embedding Adobe’s creative suite into ChatGPT positions both companies to counter rivals like Google’s Gemini, which added photo manipulation tools back in May. It also advances Adobe’s strategy to incorporate intelligent agents that make its software more dialogue-driven, easing the entry for newcomers in image alteration and graphic creation.
