Amazon's Alexa+ Boosts Smart Home Management with New AI Tools and Increased User Engagement

Customers upgrading to Alexa+ are experiencing significant improvements in their smart home management capabilities, with engagement levels increasing by nearly 50% within the first month. Users are also doubling the number of Routines they create to streamline automation in their homes and are successfully connecting more existing devices.

To improve user experience further, Amazon is now providing device manufacturers with advanced tools to incorporate their full array of features into Alexa+, simplifying the interaction for consumers who may struggle with complicated settings.

With the introduction of an AI-driven smart home developer toolkit, integration with Alexa+ has become more accessible for device makers, including those offering specialized functionalities that were previously unsupported.

“We believe managing a smart home should be as easy as the convenience it provides. We are excited to use the new smart home toolkit to expand our smart home device integrations with Alexa+. Customers will be able to access more functionalities and control a wide range of capabilities by simply asking Alexa+,” remarked Frank Zhu, Senior Vice President of Anker Innovations and CEO of Eufy.

This new integration allows users to verbally express their requests, with Alexa intelligently determining the appropriate device and feature to fulfill them. For instance, if a customer has a washing machine with numerous settings, they can say, “Alexa, my kid’s soccer jersey could use a deep clean, but the tag says cold wash only.” In response, Alexa+ can navigate through the various cycles available and choose the ideal setting, such as a cold-water enzyme activation cycle with an extra rinse and lower spin speed.

Additionally, Alexa has the ability to learn user preferences and recommend Routines that further enhance device functionality, such as brewing a favorite coffee right as the morning alarm sounds.

The initial wave of brands adopting this AI-powered smart home developer toolkit to integrate their devices with Alexa+ includes notable names like Bosch, Delta, Ecovacs, SONOFF, Govee, iRobot, Moen Flo, PetSafe, Pila Energy, Twinkly, Yale Home, Whirlpool, and TP-Link Systems Inc.’s Tapo, as well as Eufy under Anker Innovations.
