In July, Anthropic launched Claude for Teachers, granting verified K-12 educators in the United States complimentary access to enhanced teaching resources linked to educational standards and curriculums nationwide. Now, with a recent announcement, this initiative extends to schools and districts as a no-cost Enterprise option. Administrators can now unify their educators and staff within a centralized organization governed by a cohesive set of K-12 Terms, equipped with features such as single sign-on, role-based access control, and domain management.
To begin using Claude for Teachers, a school or district administrator must first undergo verification, accept the K-12 terms and student data privacy agreement, and link their email domain through a single sign-on process. Following this, educators and school personnel gain free access to Claude’s offerings tailored for K-12, including teaching aids aligned with state standards and existing tools already employed in classrooms. Usage limits for these accounts will reflect those of individual teacher accounts, with charges for overages disabled by default unless administrators decide otherwise. Administrators are responsible for managing accounts, which allows them to add or remove personnel and monitor engagement across the district.
One of the standout features of this update is the capability to transition educators who have already verified within the school’s domain into the new centralized management system. This ensures that the institution holds comprehensive control over terms and privacy, as Anthropic complies with K-12 data processing agreements to safeguard student information and maintain alignment with educational regulations. As schools prepare to welcome students back this season, several enhancements are being introduced for educators. These include two newly developed teaching skills that were co-created with Learning Commons: a lesson preparation tool to help educators strategize critical moments within upcoming lessons, and a “check for understanding” feature to generate brief assessments, starting with math, to gauge student comprehension.
Additionally, updates to existing resources focus on improving accessibility for student-facing materials and incorporating a lesson planning phase into the lesson preparation skill. The Claude for K-12 Academy has also received updates to provide free AI fluency resources such as courses and guides tailored for K-12 teachers and administrative teams.
This initiative is part of Anthropic’s overarching commitment to enhancing education by supporting teaching staff and fostering better learning experiences for students. As part of this mission, the organization is actively collaborating with the Detroit Public Schools Community District to assess the influence of Claude for Teachers on educator wellbeing and instructional practices. K-12 school and district leaders in the U.S. are encouraged to verify their districts and get started with access to these resources before the sign-up deadline of June 30, 2027, to take advantage of a full year of free benefits.
