Organizations using Claude Desktop via platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Foundry can now enjoy a comprehensive Desktop experience that integrates chat, Claude Cowork, and Claude Code into a single application.
This update enables IT departments to manage inference within their own environments across various products, facilitating a broader deployment of Claude Desktop throughout the organization. Features such as per-user single sign-on (SSO), mobile device management (MDM) policy templates, an option for offline installation, and a Microsoft 365 connector capable of operating entirely on the user’s device are now available.
Inference will operate on the chosen cloud infrastructure in designated regions, with conversation history kept locally. Organizations maintain control over the data endpoints that can be accessed and the aggregated telemetry sent to Anthropic.
Previously, users of Claude Desktop through cloud platforms had access only to Claude Cowork and Claude Code. Now, a single deployment can cater to various roles across the organization, with each function governed by its own policy key, granting admins the power to dictate access levels for different users.
Claude offers quick chat capabilities for immediate answers and brainstorming sessions, while Claude Cowork automates research across sanctioned sources and interacts with existing files on the user’s device to produce deliverables. For developers, Claude Code provides an advanced coding experience without the need for constant terminal interaction.
The organization-wide deployment of Claude Desktop allows integration with existing systems already in use.
Employees can sign in using the same work credentials they employ for other applications through IAM Identity Center, Workforce Identity Federation, Microsoft Entra ID, or any OpenID Connect provider such as Okta, eliminating the need for shared keys or cloud credentials on user devices.
Deployment can be managed similarly to other applications. Admins can export policy templates from the setup interface and implement them through management tools like Intune, GPO, or Jamf. An offline installer is available for environments needing air-gapped solutions.
Prior to any public implementation, administrators can test all connectors, confirm compatibility with Claude’s models, and ensure proper connectivity. The system is equipped with safeguards to maintain appropriate routing, including compliance in specialized government cloud settings, even if a configuration error occurs.
Organizations can adopt a phased approach, beginning with the chat feature and Claude Cowork for non-technical teams, introducing Claude Code for engineering groups, and expanding access as departments become familiar with the available tools. Security rules are consistently enforced across all functionalities.
Additionally, a Microsoft 365 connector allows Claude to access emails and documents via the existing Entra app while supporting tenant allowlisting and beta features for government cloud endpoints. For strict data residency requirements, a local connector ensures connections remain between the device and Microsoft.
“We rolled out Claude Desktop fast through our existing cloud environment – no separate vendor contract. Our own LLM Gateway let one team deploy it to hundreds of users worldwide, with no heavy infrastructure build-out,” said Sarang Oh, Analytics/AI Team Leader at Hanwha Solutions.
Administrators looking to implement the system can consult the deployment guide for instructions on SSO, policy templates, and pre-launch validation or reach out to their account team for rollout assistance.
