Facebook Marketplace Hits 10-Year Milestone with AI-Powered Selling Upgrades

Facebook Marketplace marks its tenth anniversary as a vital platform linking buyers and sellers across a wide array of goods, from household furnishings and retro clothing to gadgets. In the United States and Canada alone, users post over 3.5 million items daily, drawing in particular young people navigating relocations, home setups, or casual wardrobe needs.

The social media giant unveiled fresh enhancements powered by Meta AI on Thursday, aimed at streamlining the selling process to allow more listings with minimal effort while improving search results for potential buyers.

One key update enables sellers to upload photos of their items, after which the AI generates a preliminary listing, populates essential information, and proposes pricing drawn from comparable local offerings.

To broaden reach, sellers can now incorporate shipping options more seamlessly. The platform simplifies logistics by allowing quick creation of prepaid labels and a centralized dashboard for monitoring all dispatched packages.

Handling buyer questions has also become simpler through automated responses generated by Meta AI. For queries on stock status, the system crafts replies incorporating details such as item descriptions, availability, collection points, and costs. Sellers can activate, review, and tweak these messages right when setting up listings to ensure prompt and accurate exchanges.

Enhancing buyer confidence, Meta AI now produces concise profile overviews displayed prominently on Marketplace pages. These include tenure on Facebook, friend count, and a snapshot of selling patterns, such as past listings, product categories, and performance scores.

Meta plans further refinements to the Marketplace in the coming months.
