Midjourney Enhances User Experience with New Features Ahead of Upcoming Collaborative Tools

Last week, Midjourney unveiled several new features on its platform, aiming to improve user experience as the team prepares to introduce collaborative tools in the coming days. Key updates include style previews available in the sidebar, larger image sizes during creation, and the ability to set default parameters for individual folders. The updates primarily focused on addressing bugs and refining existing functionalities, with improvements based on community feedback gathered from Discord discussions.

Users expressed satisfaction with the recent changes, noting that previewing a style now retains the prompt-bar settings without any issues. Parameters for prompts are now saved on a per-folder basis, improving usability for those managing extensive image collections. The platform has also enhanced its image browsing experience, making it more simple to operate by preventing past issues that caused the site to crash when accessing images from deep in the history.

Additionally, modifications to the prompt bar allow for the combination of style references into a single display pill, with hover functionality that reveals their codes. Users can now pin specific settings as defaults within folders, and sample grids for various style references are being generated weekly.

The search feature has seen improvements, with the create and explore feeds now starting from the top, and a back button that restores the last visited page effectively. In terms of editing, the aspect ratio of the base image is preserved during modifications, allowing for more consistent results.

Other enhancements in the create feed include a refined list view that maintains the prompt visibility, the positioning of button controls for user convenience, and improved tablet functionality. Organize mode has been streamlined, allowing for easier selection and dragging of images without accidental movements.

The platform has also addressed several bugs, including providing clearer messaging for non-functional buttons on the plans page, and improving error handling for private moodboard codes. Users with older browsers are now notified about compatibility issues rather than facing crashes, and images that fail to load will automatically retry.

Looking ahead, Midjourney plans to introduce features for collaborative sharing and generation, alongside persistent edit histories and new ways to explore styles. The ongoing feedback from users continues to play a vital role in shaping future updates as the platform moves toward what is described as “the aesthetic singularity.” The team encourages users to keep sharing their insights through Discord to help improve the community experience.
