This built-in access could draw fresh crowds to ChatGPT by letting anyone spin out videos from simple text prompts without switching tools. Yet experts worry it might amplify the already concerning wave of deepfakes produced by Sora. Since its debut less than a year ago, the tool has been exploited to craft lifelike clips disrespecting icons like Martin Luther King Jr. and incorporating protected intellectual property, raising alarms about misuse from the start.
Embedding Sora in ChatGPT would lower barriers dramatically, inviting a broader audience to experiment and potentially dodge the company’s built-in safeguards. These include watermarks that flag AI origins, though savvy users have repeatedly outmaneuvered such protections in image and video tools alike, often by rephrasing queries in clever ways to sidestep content filters.
