Wispr Flow, a startup specializing in AI-driven dictation tools, unveiled its Android application on Wednesday, marking a significant expansion of its mobile offerings. The company initially introduced apps for Mac and Windows, followed by an iOS version in June 2025.
On iOS, the app integrates via a custom keyboard, while the Android edition employs a floating bubble for access. Users can either hold the bubble to begin dictating or tap it to start and use a separate button to end the session. Consistent with its other versions, the software removes filler words from speech and automatically adjusts formatting according to the receiving application and the content being voiced.
Androids flexibility has enabled the innovations Wispr Flow sought, according to Tanay Kothari, the companys co-founder and chief executive. He stated that only by minimizing platform interference can voice input effectively supplant traditional typing on mobile devices.
The application handles translations across more than 100 languages and operates seamlessly within various other programs. Concurrent with the Android debut, Wispr Flow announced a backend overhaul that boosts dictation speed by 30 percent.
Although numerous AI dictation solutions exist for desktops and iOS, options remain limited on Android. Wispr Flows entry joins Typeless, which entered the market there just last month. Additionally, the firm rolled out a specialized model for Hinglish, blending Hindi and English, targeting speakers in India who alternate between the languages.
Kothari explained that for individuals like himself, English and Hindi naturally intermingle during conversations with relatives and professional contacts in India. He added that this development addressed a personal need, creating the inaugural voice recognition system capable of accurately transcribing Hinglish without relying on standard Hindi orthography.
Even in its initial phase, limited to a select group of users, the app has already captured over 1.3 million English words spoken in recent days, the company reported.
Wispr Flow has emerged as a leading player in the AI dictation sector, drawing substantial investor interest. It secured $30 million in June 2025 from a round led by Menlo Ventures, followed by $25 million in November headed by Notable Capital. Overall, the startup has amassed $81 million in funding, with its most recent valuation reaching $700 million based on informed sources.
