Announced on December 15, 2025, from the company’s San Jose headquarters, this update introduces beta features for personal workflows, upcoming agentic AI tools tailored for Zoom Docs, and a fresh web-based interface that draws on users’ professional interactions to deliver time-saving insights and streamline daily tasks.
The new version employs a federated AI architecture, blending Zoom’s proprietary large and small language models with advanced options from partners like OpenAI and Anthropic, as well as open-source alternatives such as NVIDIA’s Nemotron. This setup enhances output quality by relying on precise transcriptions, closed captions, and multilingual translations, enabling more targeted information searches and efficient task handling for users.
Velchamy Sankarlingam, Zoom’s president of Product and Engineering, described the release as a pivotal moment in the company’s evolution. He emphasized how these enhancements empower individuals to accomplish more, freeing them to prioritize meaningful connections. Sankarlingam also highlighted Zoom’s dedication to broadening AI access, offering the tool as a standalone $10 monthly subscription or integrated into paid plans, without needing a full Zoom Workplace license. Customer information remains encrypted during transmission to Zoom’s servers and third-party providers, as well as when stored on the platform. At the heart of AI Companion 3.0 lies a conversational interface that connects directly to work-related exchanges, turning fragmented meeting notes and materials into structured summaries, progress updates, refined reports, and creative outputs. Users no longer need to manually upload files or compose elaborate queries, as the system intuitively processes existing context.
Ali Dalloul, chief strategy officer and Americas CEO at G42, welcomed the innovations, particularly the web surface, which allows teams to explore these agentic AI functions directly and signals a shift toward smarter, more interconnected work environments.
Key additions in this release include agentic retrieval, which scans meeting recaps, transcripts, and notes within Zoom Workplace, plus integrations with services like Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, with email platforms Gmail and Outlook slated for soon. Other highlights encompass automated post-meeting follow-ups that generate tasks and email drafts, daily reflection reports that consolidate activities for better focus, and an agentic writing mode for drafting and polishing documents in a collaborative canvas. Users can export content in formats such as Markdown, PDF, Word, or Zoom Docs, and continue refining it with features like shared comments and version tracking. An AI-driven brainstorming assistant aids in launching projects, while custom users gain a deep research mode for synthesizing insights from various sources.
To further refine routines, upcoming My Notes will transcribe in-person, Zoom, or external meetings to centralize vital information. The beta personal workflows automate routines like compiling daily reports from meetings and chats or summarizing team messages for morning digests, though availability varies by account. Content creation flows seamlessly between the web interface and Zoom Docs, incorporating agentic writing and data tools to elevate document quality, tone, and structure.
